Connecting a Source

Learn how to connect Medianova, Cloudflare, or Akamai as a data source and configure your Edgesight Analytics workspace.

Connect a CDN source to Edgesight Analytics to begin processing CDN access logs and populating your Grafana dashboards.

The first source creates the Analytics workspace and defines its dashboards, Grafana address, users, and access rules. Additional sources are connected to the same workspace and use the existing configuration.

Edgesight Analytics supports the following CDN sources:

• Medianova

• Cloudflare

• Akamai

Your Edgesight Analytics plan determines the number of sources you can connect, the available CDN providers, and the supported data retention period.

Before You Begin

Before connecting your first source, select your Edgesight Analytics plan and storage region.

The storage region determines where Analytics data is stored and therefore controls data residency. It is configured at the organization level and applies to all sources connected to the workspace.

The selected storage region is displayed as read-only during source configuration.

An organization uses a single Analytics workspace. The workspace subdomain, dashboard users, and IP whitelist are configured when the first source is connected and are shared by sources added later.

Connect Your First Source

In the Medianova Control Panel, go to Edgesight → Analytics.

The initial setup consists of five stages:

Select a CDN Source

Select the CDN provider whose logs you want to analyze:

• Medianova

• Cloudflare

• Akamai

Step 1 - choosing which CDN this source reads.

The selected provider determines how log data is delivered to Edgesight Analytics.

Configure Dashboards

All available dashboards are selected by default. Remove dashboards you do not need and configure the storage settings for each enabled dashboard.

Edgesight Analytics provides:

• Overview

• Performance Analytics

• HTTP & Cache Analytics

• Bot Analytics

Step 2 - every dashboard is included by default, with its own retention and granularity.

Each dashboard has its own Retention and Granularity settings.

Retention defines how long data for the dashboard is stored.

Granularity defines the resolution at which aggregated data is stored, from one minute to one day. Finer granularity provides more detail for short time ranges, while coarser granularity is suitable for longer-term analysis.

At least one dashboard must remain enabled.

Retention and granularity determine how dashboard data is stored. A dashboard cannot display historical data that was not retained.

Configure Workspace Settings

Configure the Analytics workspace.

This step appears only when connecting the first source.

Setting	Description
Source Name	A recognizable name for the CDN source in the Medianova Control Panel.
Subdomain	Defines the Grafana workspace address. Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are supported. Availability is checked during configuration.
IP Whitelist	Optionally restricts workspace access to specified IP addresses or CIDR ranges.
Dashboard Users	Defines the accounts that can sign in to Grafana. At least one dashboard user is required.

The Grafana address is generated from the configured subdomain:

https://<your-subdomain>-analytics.medianova.com

Dashboard user passwords must contain at least eight characters.

If the IP whitelist is left empty, the Grafana workspace can be reached from any IP address.

Dashboard users have read access to the provided dashboards. They cannot edit dashboard panels or create new dashboards.

Review the Configuration

Review the configuration before deployment.

The review includes:

• Source and workspace name

• Grafana address

• Enabled dashboards

• Retention and granularity settings

• Dashboard users

• IP whitelist rules

Confirm the configuration to begin provisioning.

Deploy the Workspace

Edgesight Analytics automatically provisions the workspace and its supporting services.

Provisioning in progress, with each step reporting as it completes.

The deployment process includes:

Stage	Description
Creating instance	Reserves the Analytics workspace.
Preparing data store	Creates the storage structures used by Analytics.
Connecting pipeline	Starts the CDN log ingestion pipeline.
Configuring datasets	Creates the aggregated datasets used by the dashboards.
Provisioning access	Creates the required read-only data access credentials.
Deploying dashboards	Deploys Grafana and the selected dashboards.
Configuring DNS	Publishes the Grafana address and configures its certificate.
Creating users & verifying	Creates dashboard users and verifies the workspace.

Provisioning progress is displayed in the Medianova Control Panel and updates as each stage completes.

Provisioning usually takes a few minutes. DNS configuration may affect the total deployment time.

Provider-Specific Configuration

Log delivery differs depending on the CDN provider.

Medianova

For a Medianova source, sign in with your Medianova account when prompted and select the organization whose CDN traffic you want to analyze.

No external log delivery configuration is required. Edgesight Analytics retrieves the required data through your Medianova account.

Cloudflare

For a Cloudflare source, Edgesight Analytics creates a dedicated ingest URL and API token after the source is provisioned.

Configure a Cloudflare Logpush job with:

• The provided ingest URL as the HTTP destination.

• The provided token in the apikey header.

Akamai

For an Akamai source, Edgesight Analytics also provides a dedicated ingest URL and API token.

Configure Akamai DataStream with:

• HTTPS delivery to the provided ingest URL.

• The provided token in the required header.

Provider	Log Delivery
Medianova	Retrieved through the connected Medianova account.
Cloudflare	Logpush using the provided HTTP ingest URL and apikey header.
Akamai	DataStream using HTTPS delivery with the provided ingest URL and authentication header.

Copy the API token when it is displayed. The token is scoped to the source's ingest endpoint. If the token is lost, rotate it to generate a new token. Rotation immediately invalidates the previous token.

After Deployment

When provisioning is complete, the Analytics summary page becomes the main management interface for the workspace.

From this page, you can:

• Select an individual source or All Sources.

• Select Open Grafana to open the dashboards in a new tab.

• Select Connect a CDN to add another source.

• Review workspace access and users.

• Monitor data usage for each dashboard.

The Analytics summary you land on once your first source is live - source switcher, Open Grafana and Connect a CDN.

Dashboards begin receiving data after the source starts sending traffic. Newly deployed dashboards may initially contain limited data while the aggregated datasets are populated.

Add Another Source

To connect another CDN to an existing workspace, select Connect a CDN from the Analytics summary page.

For additional sources, you only need to:

1. Select the CDN provider.

2. Enter a source name.

3. Complete the provider-specific connection.

Dashboard selection, workspace subdomain, dashboard users, and IP whitelist settings are not configured again. The new source uses the existing workspace configuration.

After the source is connected, it becomes available in the source selector. Select All Sources to analyze supported metrics from multiple CDN sources in the same dashboards.

Adding another source does not create another Grafana workspace. All connected CDN sources use the organization's existing Edgesight Analytics workspace.
