Learn how to deploy and manage your own Grafana-based analytics instance with Edgesight Analytics.

Edgesight Analytics transforms CDN access logs into pre-aggregated metrics and visualizes them through a dedicated Grafana workspace. It provides ready-to-use dashboards for analyzing traffic, cache efficiency, latency, errors, HTTP activity, and automated traffic over time.

Edgesight Analytics supports Medianova, Cloudflare, and Akamai as CDN data sources. Multiple sources can be connected to the same workspace and analyzed through a common data model.

How Edgesight Analytics Works

CDN access logs are continuously processed as they arrive. Instead of storing only individual request records for later analysis, Edgesight Analytics aggregates the incoming data into datasets used by its dashboards.

The resulting metrics are presented through a dedicated Grafana workspace that is provisioned and managed by Medianova.

This architecture enables analysis across longer time ranges without requiring users to configure Grafana, create queries, or build dashboards manually.

The Analytics screen in the Medianova Control Panel is used to manage sources, access, users, workspace status, and stored data usage. CDN traffic metrics and dashboards are viewed in Grafana.

Edgesight Analytics and Instant Logs

Edgesight Analytics and Instant Logs use CDN log data for different types of analysis.

Instant Logs retains request-level records and allows detailed investigation of individual requests.

Edgesight Analytics processes logs as they arrive and stores aggregated metrics for historical and trend-based analysis.

Edgesight Analytics does not provide a raw log dashboard. Use Instant Logs when request-level records or individual log fields are required.

One Workspace, Multiple CDN Sources

Each organization uses a single Grafana workspace for Edgesight Analytics.

The first CDN source connected to Edgesight Analytics creates the workspace and defines:

• The Grafana address

• Dashboard configuration

• Dashboard accounts

• IP whitelist rules

Additional CDN sources are connected to the existing workspace. They do not create separate Grafana instances, URLs, user accounts, or access rules.

The Grafana address uses the subdomain selected during initial configuration:

https://<your-subdomain>-analytics.medianova.com

Within the dashboards, connected CDN sources can be filtered and compared using the same normalized data model.

Supported sources include:

• Medianova

• Cloudflare

• Akamai

The workspace subdomain, dashboard accounts, and IP whitelist are defined when the first source is connected. These settings apply to the entire workspace, including sources added later.

Dashboards

Edgesight Analytics provides four preconfigured dashboards.

Dashboard	Purpose
Overview	Provides high-level traffic, cache, error, resource, and country metrics.
Performance Analytics	Analyzes request times, latency, datacenter performance, ASNs, and error ratios.
HTTP & Cache Analytics	Analyzes URL paths, referers, hosts, cache behavior, browsers, operating systems, and device types.
Bot Analytics	Analyzes automated traffic by user agent, request volume, country, and related traffic characteristics.

Dashboard data is pre-aggregated as logs are processed. Each dashboard has its own retention and granularity configuration.

Access and Security

Edgesight Analytics provides a dedicated Grafana address with dashboard accounts created for your workspace.

Access can additionally be restricted using an IP whitelist. The whitelist applies to the entire workspace and is evaluated before users reach the Grafana login page.

Dashboard accounts have reader access. They can:

• View dashboards and panels

• Change the time range

• Apply dashboard filters

• Inspect displayed values

• Export panel data

Dashboard accounts cannot modify panels, queries, or dashboard layouts.
